Lungu Commissions $2m Electricity Project

President Edgar Lungu has commissioned a two million US dollar electricity project in Mulobola village of Kasama district.

President Lungu explained that the project is expected to support infrastructure cover a stretch of 126 kilometres.

He said the initiative by government to connect the place to electricity must be extended to the remotest parts of the area to allow people benefit from development.

Meanwhile, Mulobola Parish Priest Amos Chushi thanked the president for connecting the area to the national grid.

Father Chushi disclosed that the area has had no electricity since its inception in 1936.

He added that the project will help people who are in business as they will be able to diversity into projects that require the use of electricity.

Meanwhile, Mulobola Primary School head teacher Purity Chihana said the connecting of electricity to the area will help students in catching up with computer study lessons.

Government had contracted CCC Engineers, a Chinese contractor to connect the 33kv line. managed under ‘The increased access to electricity services initiative’ by ZESCO.
