LUANGWA GETS FISH CERTIFICATE

Government has handed over a fish inspection and certification facility in Luangwa to handle over 100,000 tonnes of fish annually.
Minister of Fisheries and livestock Kampamba Chewe says the facility funded by the European and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA) will serve as a fish trade transit route.
Speaking when she handed over the COMESA fish and inspection and certification facility and green certification scheme at Feira harbour in Luangwa district, Mrs. Chewe said the facility will address the challenges of low intra-regional trade.
Mrs. Chewe said this in a speech read on her behalf by Luangwa district commissioner Ngoni Moyo.
Meanwhile,  COMESA Secretary General Chileshe Kapwepwe in a speech read on behalf by her Assistant Dev Haman said regional integration should lead to increase in intra-regional trade.
And World Fish Country Director Sloans Chimatiro urged traders to identify challenges they will encounter so that they are addressed in order to meet the desired outcome.
