Low Water Levels In Lake Bangweulu Affecting Local People- Kasandwe

By Chileshe Mwango

Patriotic front –PF- Bangweulu Member of Parliament Anthony Kasandwe says the effects and impact of climate change have caused a serious reduction of water levels in Lake Bangweulu.

In an interview with Phoenix News Mr Kasandwe says as a result, there has been a depletion of fish in the lake thereby negatively affecting the livelihood of people in his constituency.

He explains that people in Bangweulu predominantly depend on fishing as a mainstay for their livelihood, therefore any depletion in fish impacts heavily on the general living standards of the people.

However, Mr Kasandwe is hopeful that President Edgar Lungu’s emphasis on the need to find solutions will help address some of the challenges the constituency is facing.
