Livingstone Youth win promotion to Provincial division one

Livingstone Youth Football Academy on Sunday overcome Come All Football academy 2-0 in Livingstone to move to 29 points and win promotion with two matches remaining in the season. Their closest rivals East lands dropped points as they drew 1-1 at home with Young Pirates of Kalomo .

Livingstone Youth only needed a win and their rivals to drop points to remain at the top of the table and win promotion. They have moved to 29 points made up of 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

The Danbwa based side have been the most in-form team among the 8 teams in the league and spent some weeks at the summit with 2 points lead over the chasing pack at one stage.

Livingstone Youth head coach Serge Mumba told the ZamFoot Crew that the achievement was something amazing which summed up an incredible journey.

“It’s been an incredible journey for us that ends with success.it is an amazing achievement for a club,the lads have achieved something very special,” Mumba said.

“The entire squad played their part with their work ethic getting us home and into the Provincial Division One South. Now for the big clubs that lie in wait. It us now against the rest of the province. That’s great for Livingstone football. We will celebrate now and then start planning for the road ahead,” he added.

It is the Fouth time Coach Mumba has won promotion with a team. He first achieved with Makeni Youth,Beron , Xhapherana fc of Congo DR and Flame Lilly of Zimbabwe.

Club Chairman, Muyunda revealed that it was two year plan that they implemented to end up winning promotion.

“A long plan completed in two years. We wanted to keep the team in the league and build something special for the future. We had a small squad of few mature players and they bought into what we had in mind.We knew we needed a result to end off on top and the win proved enough. It was one of our toughest games being a derby and we held our nerve to the ens,” He said.

Come all came into the game looking to avoid relegation from and were chasing to get back to winning ways after failing to travel to Zambeef Sinazongwe and losing last weekend to Napsa Linda 1 – 0 but the men from Chitanki could not find a way past a well-organised home defence.

Youth created more chances in the first few minutes with striker Chimuka Mainza scoring first in the second minute and his partner Lawrence Mungala the main danger man grabbing the second in the 10th Minute. In the second half Come All did there best but couldn’t break the deadlock as Livingstone Youth held on to win 2-0 and win promotion to Provincial Division One.
