By Ephraim Chiluba:

The Lusaka City Council has taken over the running of Lusaka Intercity Bus Terminus with immediate effect.

Speaking to ZNBC in an interview after an inspection of the bus terminus Lusaka Town Clerk Alex Mwansa says the local authority was losing over two million kwacha in revenue every month.

Mr. Mwansa says the policy direction taken by the United Party for National Development Alliance is commendable as it will enable council to capitalize on the revenue collection and help maintain the bus terminus.

He has added that the absence of interference by political party cadres will also create jobs for suitably qualified people.

And, Some Bus Operators have expressed happiness saying the Operations are much smooth now that they are free from unscrupulous people who charged them exorbitant amounts of money to operate.
