By Mercy Ngoma:

The Livingstone City Council is appealing to the corporate world as well as other stakeholders to help it with chemicals to adequately disinfect schools before opening on February 1.

Livingstone City Council, Public Relations Manager, Melvin Mukela has told ZNBC News in an interview that the council had already disinfected eight schools in readiness for the opening which was earlier slatedĀ  for January 18 .

Mr. Mukela says the council is working with the District Education Board Secretary DEBS office to ensure that all schools that do not have the capacity to disinfect are assisted.

And Livingstone City Council, Director of Public Health, Abwino Banda has said the department is also sensitising school authorities and parents to help educate learners on the importance of adhering to the Covid 19 prevention guidelines.

Mr. Banda says the Council public health department is further engaging schools to put in mechanisms to quickly respond to any suspected Covid case to avoid spread of the disease in the learning institutions.
