KITWE’S OLD KAWAMA FLOODED

A number of houses in Kitwe’s Old Kawama area have been flooded by rainy water.

Affected residents say the flooding is due to a poor drainage system.

They have appealed to government to quickly work on the drainage and provide food aid as their goods have been damaged.

But Chimwemwe Member of Parliament ALLAN BANDA says his office has written to the Minister of Local Government GARY NKOMBO to allow them to use another contractor to work on the drainage and not the council.

Mr. BANDA says the Council was initially given authority to work on the problem but could not do so due to problematic equipment.

He says the ones working on the Council Machines have taken long to fix the problem hence the need to look for another contractor to address the problem.

Mr. BANDA says his office will work with government to provide a lasting solution for the people of Kawama.
