“KBF’s ‘Bring Babies’ Statement defended”

… Women’s leagues Urges the NGOCC to Understand the Philosophical Context the statement was made.

Lusaka, Zambia24 – (1-09 -2024) – Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) Political Director Lucy Yataba has defended party President Kelvin Bwalya Fube’s (KBF) remarks amid criticism following the ZMP manifesto launch.

Yataba urged critics, including the Non-Governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC), to understand the philosophical context behind Fube’s controversial “bring the babies” statement.

Fube’s remarks, encouraging people to “bring the babies,” sparked controversy, with some critics arguing that the statement could be interpreted as disregarding women’s rights and reproductive choices.

The NGOCC and other groups expressed concern that the comments were inappropriate.

In response, Yataba clarified that Fube’s statement was meant to be interpreted philosophically, advocating for the value of life and traditional family values.

She suggested that Fube was opposing ideologies that she believes undermine these values, such as support for gay rights.

Yataba criticized the “narrow interpretation” of Fube’s remarks by the NGOCC and others, accusing these groups of focusing solely on a single line from his speech.

“It is misleading to concentrate on one statement without considering the entire message the President was delivering. This selective focus distracts from the positive and inclusive messages he aimed to convey,” Yataba stated.

She urged the public, particularly women, to engage in critical thinking and consider the broader context of political statements.

“We must go beyond surface-level interpretations and understand the deeper meaning,” she said.

Yataba argued that this approach would lead to more informed public discourse on sensitive issues like rights and values.

Yataba emphasized the importance of thoughtful analysis in fostering respectful dialogue.

She suggested that understanding the broader context and underlying messages would lead to greater respect for women’s perspectives and a more meaningful exchange of ideas.

“Respecting each other’s viewpoints and engaging in thoughtful debate is essential for societal progress,” Yataba added.

She appealed to the NGOCC understanding a philosophical interpretation in which Fube made the comments emphasizing critical thinking and contextual understanding.

Lucy Yataba’s defense of Kelvin Bwalya Fube’s remarks comes amid ongoing debates about the ZMP’s stance on social and cultural issues.

Her call for a philosophical interpretation of Fube’s comments and her critique of selective scrutiny reflect the party’s broader communication strategy, emphasizing critical thinking and contextual understanding.
