Kawambwa Told To Embrace Outgrower Scheme

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa  has called on Kawambwa  residents to embrace the out-grower scheme.Speaking during a conducted tour of selected tea fields and factories in Kenya’s Kericho and Nandi Counties, Mr. Chilangwa said out-grower schemes have potential to lift families out of poverty.Mr. Chilangwa is leading a delegation of technocrats from the Zambia Forestry and Forests Corporation (ZAFFICO) and Luapula Provincial Administration to Kenya to learn about the tea value chain and out-grower scheme model.And ZAFFICO Managing Director Frightone Sichone has announced that the construction of modern factory at Kawambwa tea will start this year.Mr. Sichone said the construction of the new tea plant is aimed at enhancing production at the company.And Kawambwa District Commissioner Ivo Mpasa called for immediate action to expand the tea fields.
