Kaunda Square , Munali and Chelston in U17 talent search

On Monday May 13, 2019, Boys born On or after January 1, 2003 gathered at Kaunda Square Community Football Ground to compete against each other and the best players from this Zone were to be selected to represent Kaunda Square, Munali, Chelston and other surrounding areas at another level to discover and pick the best from different selection points put up by FAZ such as Kalingalinga, Chainda, National Sports Development Centre, Independence Stadium And Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) across Lusaka in search of the next Zambia U17 national team.

The assessment in Kaunda Square and the above mentioned areas was spearheaded by Red Arrows Assistant Coach Songwe Chalwe, others Included Autnell Changwe, Boyd Simutowe And Coach Victor aka Lybia who embarked on finding untapped talent especially those Skillful and talented boys who don’t have a privilege of being spotted or seen by scouts or other clubs but yet they can contribute greatly to the development of football in the country hence should be given a chance at national level.

FAZ is looking at curbing age cheating so to help ascertain the right ages for the boys those selected will have to produce their Under- Five cards or Birth Certificates and later on Undergo The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests.

Kaunda Square Zone leader Songwe Chalwe told the Zamfoot Crew that this is also an opportunity for Coaches assigned to monitor this selection to have a wider pool of deserving players to select from not only in Lusaka but in all the 10 Provinces as mentioned By the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) Technical Director Lyson Zulu.

Those That will meet the required grade at the Regional Trials will converge at the FAZ Technical Centre for the Final Selection. Zambia will be competing at the 2019 COSAFA Championship In September in Malawi.
