“KASUMBALESA CONGESTION DUE TO EXPANDING ECONOMY”

Government says the traffic congestion at Kasumbalesa border post in Chililabombwe has been caused by increased cargo traffic flow due to expanding economic activity in the region.
Vice President Inonge Wina says the congestion has been made critical by the construction works taking place on the DRC side of the border.
Mrs. Wina says the volume of trucks has increased and that government is exploring avenues to make the clearing of traffic much quicker.
The Vice President was responding to questions for oral answer from Nchanga Member of Parliament Chilombo Chali who asked whether the Government is aware that over 2000 trucks, stretching over 42 kilometers, are marooned at the Kasumbalesa Border Pos
in Chililabombwe District.
The questions were answered on behalf of the Vice President by Minister in the Office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa.
