Cabinet has directed that all relevant Ministries should provide necessary support towards tarring of Kasama Airport.
Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA says this is in line with President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s pronouncement during the Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena Bemba traditional ceremony in Mungwi district that the runway should be tarred expeditiously.
Ms. KASANDA says this will enable the airport have capacity to service appropriate types of aircraft daily.
She says a Cabinet meeting held yesterday also resolved that all provincial capitals with airstrips whose runways are not tarred should tar them to facilitate easy travel.
In a statement to ZNBC News in Lusaka, Ms. KASANDA added that Cabinet also approved the National Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Policy and its Implementation Plan.
Ms. KASANDA, who is also Information and Media Minister, said Cabinet also approved in principle, the introduction of three Bills in Parliament.
She said the bills are the Plant Pests and Diseases Act which should be repealed and replaced, the Investment, Trade and Enterprise Development Bill and the Zambia Development Agency Act which should also be repealed and replaced.
Ms. KASANDA also said government approved a request from the Angolan Government to erect a bust of that country’s first President AGOSTINHO NETO in Lusaka.
She said the bust was received in September, 2020 by the Ministry of Tourism and is currently at the Lusaka National Museum.
