KANGANJA WARNS VIOLENT PARTIES

Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has warned that the Police service will not tolerate any misconduct or thuggery behavior by political parties and their affiliates.Mr. Kanganja says the police service will enforce the law on any political party or cadres found abrogating the statutes.He says the growing tendency of political party cadres storming police stations, invading radio stations and causing provocations as witnessed in Lusaka and on the Copperbelt will not be condoned.The Police Chief has told ZNBC News in Lusaka that those seeking police advocacy when aggrieved by the conduct of other parties should follow the right procedure and not take the law into their hands.Mr. Kanganja said Zambia is a democratic country which is governed by rules and laws which must be followed by all.He has also reiterated that the tolerance of the police towards acts of violence and disturbance of peace by political cadres should not be taken as a sign of weakness.Mr. Kanganja has since implored political parties to carry out their activities peacefully.The Inspector General has further directed police officers to be vigilant and apply the law accordingly.
