KANGANJA SOUNDS WARNING

By Mark Ziligone:

Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has warned political players against engaging in activities that may cause public disorder ahead of the August General election.

Mr. Kanganja says it is sad that some political players are planning to take a route of using propaganda and falsehood to gain sympathy from the electorate.

He says anyone that will be found wanting for inciting the public through publication of falsehood or alarming statements will face the full wrath of the law.

The Inspector General’s comments come after a false alarm was raised by UPND Mkushi North aspiring candidate Topson Kunda suggesting that he had been shot in the foot.

Mr. Kanganja says Mr. Kunda’s allegations almost sparked protests in Itala compound among residents.

He explained that that giving false information to a public officer is a prosecutable offence and that anyone found wanting will not be spared.

On Thursday last week, Mr. Kunda gave false information to the Police that he had been shot at whilst in Itala Compound and had sent someone to report on his behalf to police while he remained in a motor vehicle which was parked at the police station.
