By Etambuyu  Katota

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has urged Zambians to pray for President Edgar Lungu as he addresses challenges being experienced in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Kampyongo says leaders must be included in prayer as they lead the country.

He says the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders who include the church.

Mr. Kampyongo was speaking when he attended mass at St. Stella Maris Catholic Church in Mpulungu District, during which he called on the church to continue to advocate for the public health guidelines to be adhered to by members of the public.

He also assured the church that he would relay the message to the Ministry of General Education on the challenges St. Maximilian Kolbe Trust School is facing during the pandemic.

And St. Stella Maris Parish Priest James Bwalya said the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many sectors of social and economic development.

Father Bwalya said the church will continue to play its role in the fight against COVID-19.
