Kambwili still behind bars, likely to take plea this afternoon

Opposition NDC Consultant Chishimba Kambwili is still in police custody in a case where he stands accused of expressing hatred against a foreign national and disobeying lawful orders at Kenneth Kaunda international Airport.

The Roan lawmaker was scheduled to take plea before the Lusaka Magistrate Court this morning but could not because his docket was reportedly not ready.

His lawyer, Christopher Mundia is disappointed that Kambwili has not been brought to court even after the police denied him bond on Monday.

He says Information reaching him is that Kambwili will appear in court around 14:00 hours to take plea on the two charges.

He could however not tell whether the two charges will be in one indictment or not.

Kambwili was arrested yesterday over and incident where he was captured on camera yelling at an Indian worker who was operating a compactor on a road project, a job Kambwili says should be reserved for Zambians.

In the charge of disobeying lawful orders, the law maker is alleged to have forced himself in a restricted area at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport against orders of the security guards. The incident was captured on CCTV.
