Kalikiliki Residents Cry Foul Over Imbalanced Sharing Of Development In Munali Constituency

By Chileshe Mwango

Residents of Lusaka’s Kalikiliki Compound have complained of being sidelined when it comes to the implementation of developmental projects in the area.

In an interview with Phoenix News, 65 year Annette Banda who has lived in Kalikiliki for the last twenty years explains that new areas such as Mtendere east have seen construction of flushable toilets and development of roads to bituminous standard while Kalikiliki remains undeveloped.

Ms. Banda further complains that while everyone knows that there are developmental projects in Munali Constituency; Kalikiliki is overlooked as if it does not have any representation.
Another resident Emmanuel Syanzembwe has cited the continued water challenge in the area as another area lacking attention from authorities.

But mtendere ward 30 Area Councilor Watson Mtonga has refuted the allegations that development in the area is channeled to Mtendere Compound only saying together with area Member of Parliament Nkandu Luo, they have tried to take development to Kalikiliki.

Mr. Mtonga has however admitted that Kalikiliki is still behind in as far infrastructure development is concerned and has assured that everything is being done to ensure that the area receives an equal share of schools, markets and roads.
