Kalampa, Napsa suffer defeats again

Nkana and Napsa Stars’ quest to avoid relegation went from bad to worse as both sides suffered defeats in the MTN Super League on Sunday.

Following the two sides’ capitulation in North African in midweek, Beston Chambeshi and Mohamed Fathi of Nkana and Napsa Stars respectively were hoping for a return to winning ways in the league but that didn’t go to plan.

In Choma, Eagles had a strong start to the match and took the lead just after seven minutes, Maybin Kalengo beat Moses Mapulanga with a brilliant touch on from a George Chloba long ball to put the home side in the lead.

Tonka Twende doubled the lead five minutes later as Amity Shamende tapped in from close range, 2-0.

Shamende could have grabbed his brace in the first minute of additional time after a mix up by Mapulanga and his defense, But Shamende who was just inches from the goal line with no one chasing him decided to go for a spectacular and ballooned the ball which was easy to score than miss.

However, that did not matter as Collins Mulenga bundled the ball into the net a minute later to put the final nail into the coffin of his former team. The result sees Eagles end a winless run and moves up to 11th place while Nkana remains stuck in 17th place.

At Nkoloma Stadium, NAPSA Stars suffered their seventh loss of the season as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Green Buffaloes.

Friday Samu put the Soldiers in the lead before Jimmy Mukeya could draw Mohamed Fathi’s Boys level only for Nicholas Mulilo to snatch a winner.

The win takes Green Buffaloes to 13th place while the Pensioners remain stuck in 16th place.
