Kalampa blow title hopes as Napsa maintain top spot

A brace from Congolese striker Idriss Mbombo salvaged a point for Nkana as Kitwe giants came from behind to deny Red Arrows victory at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday.

In a lunch time kickoff, Wedson Nyirenda’s Lusaka Dynamos suffered a defeat to Zesco United after Poso Mayunga scored an own goal. George Lwandamina’s side moved into the top four on third position with 46 points while Lusaka Dynamos are on 40 points.

In a 3 pm kickoff, Nkana went into the tie against the airmen as favourites but had to come from behind to salvage a point.

It was a battle of strikers at Nkoloma Stadium.

Joseph Phiri got Arrows off the mark with an early goal before James Chamanga increased the tally.

Chamanga was a marvel to watch once again with his movement and position sense again.

With Arrows headed for victory, Mbombo again came to Kalampa’s rescue with a double.

With a game to go, Nkana are on 47 points, a point behind league leaders Napsa Stars. Red Arrows are on 39th points.

Forest Rangers complete the top four on 46 points, and will be in action on Sunday against Power Dynamos in Kitwe.

Elsewhere Kabwe Warriors beat Lumwana Radiants 1 nil in Solwezi on Saturday.
