KAKOMA OPTIMISTIC OVER DEBT CRISIS

By Wilson Mulinda:

Former UPND Spokesperson CHARLES KAKOMA is optimistic that there will be a breakthrough in resolving the country’s debt crisis.

Mr. KAKOMA says the confidence is derived from the fact that challenges that delayed the talks have been resolved.

He says it is important to resolve Zambia’s debt crisis so that resources going towards debt servicing are channelled to needy areas such as education, health, agriculture, roads and other infrastructure.

Speaking today in Lusaka, Mr. KAKOMA said it is comforting that the IMF Deputy Managing Director is also in Zambia to discuss the country’s programme during the same week that Zambia’s debt problem is being discussed by the Creditors Committee.
