Kafubu Water to Start Power Generation

Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company will in a few months time  start generating  electricity using sewer waste to treat its water.Company Managing Director, Athanasius Mwaba  said under the forth coming sanitation project, KWSC will collect slug from its two major treatment plants and be able to produce gas in its digestors and later convert the gas to electrical energy. Mr. Mwaba said once the project starts,the company will bring the huge costs on electricity to zero and channel the funds saved to other projects. He said the water utility firm will there after start packaging the gas, which he added could be sold to the general public so as to allow  as many households as possible to start using gas cookers. Meanwhile,David Mwansa one of the project beneficiaries has commended Kafubu Water for initiating such a project which he said should be expanded to other areas in the province. Mr. Mwansa said ever since he started using the gas stove he has curtailed on the expenses incured to purchase charcoal.
