Kabwe Warriors scored an injury time penalty against Zesco United to rescue a point and maintain their unbeaten run as the two teams played out to a 2 – 2 draw at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium in Kabwe.

The Zesco were fresh from a disappointing 1 – 1 draw aginst Al Hilal of Sudan in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening and coach George Lwandamina made nine changes to the starting eleven with only Clement Mwape maintained in the team.

It was the visitors who went ahead in the 28th minute through Emmanuel Okutu who benefited from a Zechariah Chilongoshi assist.

Rahim Osumanu leveled for the visitors with at the death of the first half when he finished off a Solomon Sakala assist.

Zesco extended took the lead 3 minutes after the restart and this time it was veteran striker Winstone Kalengo on target as he scored his first of the season.

Zesco were looking good to claim maximum points but they conceded a penalty in injury time which Patrick Kasunga converted for the equalizer.

The result sees Zesco leap into second position level on points with third placed Lusaka Dynamos. Zesco have a congested a fixture and will fly out to Sudan for the CAF game against Al Hilal.

With a third consecutive draw, Warriors are in 4th position on 7 points.
