Kabole back at Power as Kaindu, Chintu are sacked

Power Dynamos have sacked coach Kelvin Kaindu and his assistant Kampamba Chintu after a poor string of results.

And the Kitwe giants have rehired veteran coach Fordson Kabole in a caretaker role.

Kaindu, a Zanaco legend was given his first taste of coaching in the Zambian Super League by Power Dynamos in January 2018 after an impressive spell in Zimbabwe.

Despite spending spending over $80, 000 in the three transfer markets including around $50, 000 on striker Elvis Rupia, Power Dynamos have failed to mount a title challenge in the two seasons under Kaindu.

While the Kenyan striker Rupia has failed to deliver on the pitch, Kaindu’s Zimbabwean signing Denis Dzingai has impressed at the back and has chipped in with crucial goals .

The coming of Kabole might raise eyebrows as there’s speculation that the former Nchanga Rangers coach doesn’t hold the necessary qualification to sit in the dugout.

“Fordson does not hold the coaching qualification to seat on the Technical Bench of a Super League team,” a ZamFoot Crew expert reviewed.

With that background, there’s speculation already that George Chilufya will be the man in charge in the dugout while Kabole will be watching from the stands as a Technical Director.

Chilufya, played in Finland at RoPS with the likes of Stephen Kunda and Zeddy Saileti.

He is highly regarded and spent the 2018 season as an assistant to Aggrey Chiyangi at Green Eagles and helped the Choma to qualify to the CAF Confederations Cup.

He joined Power Dynamos at the start of the 2019 transitional season.

Despite being one of the giants of the Zambian Super League and boasting around $1 million sponsorship package from Copperbelt Energy Co-operation, CEC, the club from Kitwe’s Ndeke township last won the league title in 2011.

Power has 5 league titles and still remain the only Zambian side with a continental title.
