K36m released to enhance water supply

Government has released 36 million Kwacha to enhance water supply to people in peri-urban areas to curb the spread of Cholera.

The resources are meant for the completion and installation of water tanks and water projects in Kanyama, Garden House and Chawama Compounds.

And Water Development Minister MIKE MPOSHA says government has also made operational the 12 water Kiosks in Kanyama Compound under the 2017 emergency water project.

Mr. MPOSHA has told ZNBC News after touring Kanyama that the Water project in Garden House will also be completed.

He explained that the free water being provided is in line with the Presidential directive to ensure people do not go back to using shallow wells.

And Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director JILLY CHIYOMBWE said the water utility is refilling the installed water tanks with water more than once per – day.
