K1M NEEDED TO COMPLETE HUMPHREY MULEMBA TOLL PLAZA

Mwila Nsofu-About One Million Kwacha is needed to fully complete works at the Humphrey Mulemba toll plaza on the Solwezi – Mutanda road in North Western Province.

The toll station which was operationalised in 2018 was partially completed with some minor works remaining.

And, Road Development Agency Board Chairperson SAMUEL MUKUPA says there is need to complete the toll station to enhance revenue collection.

Mr MUKUPA appealed for funding from the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) to ensure that minor works remaining are completed.

Some of the works include paving the abnormal load passage, lodging quarters and works on the office building.

He says the infrastructure is of great economic importance as this is a critical point for trucks carrying copper , Zambia’s forex earner.

Mr MUKUPA was speaking when the three road sector agency chairpersons toured the Humprey mulemba toll. Plaza in Solwezi.

He said RDA envisages an upswing in revenue collection at the toll Plaza from the current K 1.5 million per month.

And, NRFA vice board chairperson Kaitano CHUNGU said the agency will consider sourcing for funds to ensure that toll plaza is fully completed.

Meanwhile, Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) board chairperson Cornelius Chipoma encouraged the officers to maintain the surroundings clean.

And, Humprey Mulemba toll plaza station manager, Evelyn Katambi pledged to ensure the area is kept clean and green.
