K1.3 billion mobilized to pay contractors

vlcsnap-2018-07-25-13h11m46s431The ministerial committee on infrastructure development has mobilized a total of K1.3 billion towards payment of contractors undertaking government projects.

The Committee which comprises the Ministers of Finance, Housing and Infrastructure Development, Higher Education, General Education, Tourism and Arts, Home Affairs, Water and Sanitation, Transport and Communication, Agriculture, Local Government, Youth and Sport and Health, has since channeled K600 million towards road construction and K700 million towards infrastructure PROJECTS IN sector ministries.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development, Ronald Chitotela has disclosed that of the K700 million meant for infrastructure projects, K200 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Health.

Mr. Chitotela says K175 million has been allocated to the Ministry of General Education while his Ministry has been allocated K75 million.

He says the ministries of Home Affairs and Higher Education have been apportioned K61 million each while the Ministry of Local Government has received K50 million.

Mr. Chitotela states that the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been allocated K41 million while K25 million has gone to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.

He says the Ministries of Youth and Sport and Chiefs and Traditional Affairs have received K7.5 million and K3 million respectively, while the Ministry of Agriculture has only been given K1.4 million.
