Juvenile nabbed for trying to stab taxi driver

Copperbelt police have arrested a 16-years-old boy of Chingola for attempting to stab a taxi driver using a Knife.

Provincial police commissioner Charity Katanga yesterday said the juvenile and another unknown person hired the driver from town centre on pretext that they were going to a place known as Marimba.

She said the juvenile allegedly attempted to stab the driver but he overpower him and grabbed the knife.

Katanga said after overpowered them, one of suspects produced a firearm and attempted to open it but the magazine fell into a septic tank during the struggle and the juvenile sustained injuries.

She said police managed to retrieve the firearm while the juvenile offender was nursing injuries in hospital.

Katanga said that police have since arrested and charged the father to the juvenile for failing to secure a firearm.
