Judicial Service Commission urged to be accountable

Hannock Kasama-Acting Chief Justice MICHAEL MUSONDA has implored the Judicial Service Commission not to hesitate to invoke disciplinary action against any member of the judiciary that might depart from accountability in the discharge of duties.

Justice MUSONDA says members of the judiciary must demonstrate accountability in their operations to satisfy the interests of Zambians and the Republican President.

He says this is in line with article 118 of the Republican Constitution.

Justice MUSONDA says accountability also entails timely delivery of court judgements and reporting for work on time.

He said this in LUSAKA today when new Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission MUKANDE MWIKISA took the oath office before him.

And in an interview with journalists afterwards, Mr. MWIKISA said he is equal to the task in upholding the integrity of the Judicial Service Commission.

Mr. MWIKISA who was recently appointed by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA takes over from former Chief Justice MATHEWS NGULUBE.
