JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINE ARRIVE

By Etambuyu Katota- One hundred fifty-one thousand  two hundred doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine have arrived in the country.

Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services KENNEDY MALAMA who received the vaccines at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport said guidance on distribution and administering will be start tomorrow.

Dr. MALAMA said the vaccines will be given to people as soon as they arrive.

He says Zambia is learning from other countries that have better outcomes after administering the COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. MALAMA said government will ensure that more people receive the vaccines by the end the year.

And US Charge d Affairs DAVID YOUNG said the US government will continue to support Zambia fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. YOUNG said through the vaccine program the US will provide additional shipments.

He said the 151, 200 doses are part of the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to work to end the pandemic worldwide.

Meanwhile, United Nations Resident Coordinator COUMBA MAR GARDIO in a statement read on her behalf by World Health Organisation Country Representative Dr. NATHAN BAKYAITA said the donation will protect the people of Zambia from the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
