Japan Assures Zambia of Development Cooperation

By Sharon Kunda-The Japanese Government has assured Zambia of its continued support in form of development cooperation.Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Mizuuchi Ryuuta says he is currently engaged in several discussions with various ministries in identifying the various needs on the ground.Mr. Ryuuta says Japan is committed to assisting the Zambian Government with capacity building and that it is aware of the needs of the rural population.Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Lawrence Sichalwe at his office in Lusaka today, the Japanese Ambassador said agriculture is one of the priority areas, as well as the upgrading of education in Zambia.Mr. Ryuuta said the Health sector is also one of the priority areas of cooperation for his Government and that he is working intensively with the Ministry of Health in this regard.And Mr. Sichalwe expressed gratitude to the Japanese Government for its support towards various projects in the country.He said the Ministry is seeking cooperation in project interventions that will ensure sustainability of rural communities’ livelihoods.
