Janza: Hiring a Foreign Coach is Comestic

Former Zambia coach Honour Janza has advised the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ not to hire an expatriate coach.

Janza, who was also a FAZ Techinical Director for over 7 years has also branded the hiring of foreign coaches as ‘comestic.’

Last week FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala said the Beston Chambeshi-led national team technical bench’s mandate had come to an end after the Chipolopolo’s elimination from the World Cup qualifiers.

Kashala said the association in the process of hiring a new Chipolopolo coach.

Janza, who was the last coach to qualify Zambia to the African Cup of Nations in 2015 believes foreign coaches have failed to deliver in the last five years.

“For me, if you look at Beston Chambeshi, he has been surrounded by about three foreign coaches but nothing has come out of it,” the Dutch trained FIFA instructor said.

During Chambeshi’s three month in-charged, FAZ had roped in three Croatians including Aljoša Asanović to help.

“We already had Sven [Vandenbroeck], Micho [Milutin Sredojevic], all these are foreign coaches but we have not gone to the AFCON or the World Cup.

“Bringing foreign coaches is just cosmetic for me.

Kalusha Bwalya brought Dutchman Nico Labhom to assist Janza

Janza served as the FAZ Technical Director before he was brought in as the second assistant in Herve Renard’s title winning 2012 squad.

In 2014, when FAZ were struggling to pay Patrice Beaumulle, the Frenchman decided to leave and link up with Renard in France, Janza was given the mantle to take charge of the Chipolopolo.

Zambia qualified for the 2015 AFCON as Janza phased out the old guard including Chris Katongo.

Janza’s rebuilding process failed to take place thereafter as he was fired at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by Kalusha Bwalya for poor string of performance.

Recently Janza separated with Napsa Stars as CEO on mutual consent.
