Former FIFA referee JANNY SIKAZWE says DIANA CHIKOTESHA performance at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations -AFCON- tournament has brought pride to the country.

SIKAZWE, who is Zambia’s most decorated match official, says capacity building is key if the country is to groom more female referees that will officiate matches at continental and global levels like CHIKOTESHA.

He also said technical support must be given to upcoming young female match officials if Zambia is to produce more match officials like of DIANA CHIKOTESHA.

SIKAZWE who Spoke to ZNBC Sport News in a telephone interview, said there is further need for Zambian referees to improve on fitness.

And the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ-says it has put in place programs to ensure that more female referees are given support.

FAZ – Communications Manager SYDNEY MUNGALA said this will ensure that there is continuity in producing referees of CHIKOTESHA’S caliber.

Last evening DIANA CHIKOTESHA was the second assistant referee in the AFCON final that saw Ivory Coast beat Nigeria 2-1 to be crowned 2023 champions.
