Jacob Mulenga makes history in the Netherlands

Zambian forward Jacob Mulenga has become the oldest player to score in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.

The former Chipolopolo striker scored a late consolation goal on Sunday in Go Ahead Eagles’ 3-1 loss to Sc Heerenveen.

Mulenga at 38 years, 92 days became the oldest goal scorer in the Eredivisie since Zeljko Petrovic in 2004 breaking an eighteen year record.

Two goals from Sydney van Hooijdonk and a goal from Anthony Musaba gave the Frisians a 3-0 lead. The goal of Go Ahead Eagles was made in the penultimate minute of play by Jacob Mulenga.

The pride of the IJssel Kowet despite losing the final game of the season they are safe from relegation as they finished in 13th place with 36 points.
