Jack Mwiimbu Optimistic Zambia Still Stands A Chance To Receive Food Aid In Response To The Hunger Crisis

By Chileshe Mwango

UPND Monze Central Member of Parliament, Jack Mwiimbu is optimistic Zambia still stands a chance to receive food aid from well-wishers in response to the hunger crisis the country is going through.

Mr. Mwiimbu however observes that this help can only come if government accepts the current distressful situation as opposed to insisting that the country is food secure.

During a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Ryuuti Mizuchi last week, President Edgar Lungu called on the international community to help address the current floods being experienced in some parts of the country.

But Mr. Mwiimbu is saddened that people have continued to suffer as a result of the failure by government to accept Zambia’s hunger situation and is advising President Lungu to openly declare the food shortage a crisis and seek help the same way he asked for assistance towards the flood situation.
