Its Kamanga as Kalusha shuns eligibility test

The Ethics Committee have given FAZ President Andrew Kamanga the go ahead to contest for the CAF Executive Committee member (Cosafa zone) position after passing an eligibility test.

The Ethics Committee were requested by the FAZ Executive Committee to subject the two aspiring candidates for the CAF Executive Committee position, Andrew Kamanga and Kalusha Bwalya to integrity checks.

According to a statement signed by the three Ethics Committee members Kephas Katongo, Freddie Chalenga and Kizzy Moonga and availed to the FAZ media team the 1988 African Footballer of the year, Kalusha Bwalya who has held the position since 2011 shunned the eligibility test meeting.

“Mr. Bwalya’s objection to undergo the Eligibility Test is against the FIFA Governance Regulations.”

Kamanga who is the current FAZ President underwent the integrity test was given the green light to go ahead and seek office for the all powerFull CAF Executive Committee which is the Executive body of CAF. The Committee makes and influences decisions of CAF.

“It is the Ethics Committee’s considered opinion that, given the fact that, given the fact the Eligibility Test was only administered on one candidate who possesses the ability to be nominated for the CAF Executive Committee position, the Ethics Committee has got no objection to nominate the candidate who was subjected to and met the Eligibility.”

Nominations for the elections that will held in July close on May 31, 2019.

The CAF Executive Committee Member of the South Zone (Cosafa Region) represents 14 member associations namely Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
