By Wilson Mulinda:

Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI says it is important for Parliamentarians to interact with those from other countries to enhance knowledge on how they handle business in their various committees.

Ms. MUTTI says such interactions also help to strengthen relations between members of Parliament.

She says Zambia and Tanzania enjoy warm relations based on the history of the two countries and how much they value democracy.

Ms. MUTTI was speaking when a visiting delegation from Tanzania paid a courtesy call on her at the National Assembly today.

She said Zambia will be looking to learn from Tanzania in bringing gender parity because it only has 15 percent women representation in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Public Accounts Committee Chairperson NAGHENJWA KABOYOKA said her committee is proud to see another woman speaker, as is the case in her country.

Ms. KABOYOKA said she is also impressed with how business is conducted in the Zambian National Assembly.
