ITALY OFFERS CYBER DETECTION TRAINING

By Etambuyu Katota-Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo says training security officers in crime detection and management in cyber space will play a critical role in increasing their knowledge and saving citizens from any form of cybercrime.

Mr. Kampyongo says government has a duty to protect citizens from any form of abuse including cyber bullying.

He says the country now has adequate laws to protect citizens from any forms of cyber bullying.

Mr. Kampyongo was speaking at the official opening of a training programme for security officers in crime detection and management in cyber space sponsored by the Italian government.

The minister has since commended cooperating partners for the support being rendered to Government.

And Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja in a speech read for him by Commissioner of Police Administration Lombe Kamukoshi said understanding modern technology is important for modern day policing as today’s crimes are committed through technology from the comfort of peoples’ homes.

Meanwhile, Italian Ambassador to Zambia Antonino Maggiore has commended the Zambian government for the enactment of the cyber security law.

And Luiss University Professor and Former Italian Justice Minister Paola Severino said cyber security is essential in today’s social and economic development.

Professor Severiano said it is important for countries to develop cyber security competences to be able to detect cyber-crimes and their locations.
