IREEN MAMBILIMA REMEMBERED

By Ruth Chayinda-

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the late Chief Justice IREEN MAMBILIMA will continue to be remembered for her virtues and ideals that promoted fairness and justice during her time of service.

President HICHILEMA says Mrs. MAMBILIMA was a true patriot and defender of the marginalized who wanted justice to prevail for all.

He says there is need for her legacy to be upheld by the family and judiciary by ensuring they continue on the path she started of taking justice closer to the people.

President HAKAINDE said this in a speech read on his behalf by Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE at Mrs. MAMBILIMA’s first memorial service at the cathedral of the holy cross.

He said it is important that Mrs. MAMBILIMA’s legacy is celebrated and emulated by the young generation.

And Chief of Justice MUMBA MALILA said Mrs. MAMBILIMA’s contribution to the judiciary is immense and will be used to enhance the judicial system.

Justice MALILA said the judicial system will continue on her strides and path of increasing access to justice for all citizens.

And in his sermon Reverend MOSES ZULU said Mrs. MAMBILIMA was an instrument of peace, unity, hard work and integrity that many should strive to emulate.

Mrs. MAMBILIMA’s husband, retired Major JOSEPH MAMBILIMA, said life has not been the same since he lost his wife but is thankful to GOD for the opportunity to have been a part of her life.
