By Josiah Mpofu:

Senior Chief Nkula of the Bemba people has appealed to government to involve more women in the Small-Holder Livestock Investment Programme (E-SLIP) that the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock is currently implementing countrywide.

Chief Nkula emphasised that women play a critical role in the success of any programme hence the need for their full participation.

Speaking when Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Nkandu Luo paid a courtesy call at his palace in Chinsali district of Muchinga province, Chief Nkula commended government for empowering vulnerable people in his chiefdom with livestock.

And Professor Luo explained that her Ministry has lined up various programmes aimed at improving the livelihood of youths, women and people living with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Minister of Works and Supply Silvia Chalikosa has encouraged youths not to just complain about lack of employment but should instead take advantage of various empowerment programmes government is currently offering.
