By Lomphande Muzumi

The African Parliamentarian Network against Corruption (APNAC) has advised investigative wings not to ignore the new report by the environmental investigation agency (EIA) that exposed individuals involved in the smuggling of Mukula rosewood trees.

Recently, environmental investigation agency, an American based organization released a report into the smuggling of Mukula logs in Zambia which has implicated President Edgar Lungu, his daughter Tasila, Justice Minister Given Lubinda and lands minister, Jean Kapata among others.

In an interview with Phoenix News, APNAC Zambia chapter chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa explains that the report by the EIA must be taken seriously as it has the implication of denting Zambia’s image on the international community.

Mr Mweetwa further observes that 2019 has been a year of corruption scandals which have made the fight against corruption difficult to achieve.

He has demanded that justice in the matter involving the smuggling of Mukula tree must prevail and culprits brought to book.
