Tourism Minister and Mandevu PF parliamentary candidate Jean Kapata has urged the police to quickly investigate what she claims is a forged General Certificate of Education from Cambridge in the UK, that UPND presidential running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has.

Kapata alleges that the certificate was submitted to the Examinations Council of Zambia but was not presented to the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

She says it was surprising how Mwamba managed to obtain an advanced diploma from London in such a short period of time and only weeks before nominations for the general elections in August.

Ng’ande Mwanajiti, a PF Cadre on Wednesday charged that should it be true that the General Certificate of Education presented to the Examinations Council of Zambia belonged to Mwamba who is the UPND presidential running mate, and then Zambia would be in a governance crisis if the authorities were not going to redress the matter.

However, when contacted to comment on the General Certificate of Education bearing the name of Mwamba, Examination Council of Zambia executive director Charles Chilala declined to do so, saying he has not seen the document.

Mwamba, on Thursday June 16, appeared on Radio Phoenix’s special program and dispelled the rumors that he filed in forged papers.

‘”You see, I was very smart, I never presented any papers from Zimbabwe because I know the relationship between Mugabe and President Lungu. They would have gone to fidget with the papers so I only gave them the papers from the UK,” Mwamba said.
