INMATES TO BE INTERGRATED IN SPORTS ACTIVITIES

The Zambia Correctional Service -ZCS- says all inmates who are sport oriented across the country will be integrated in various sports disciplines under its umbrella.
Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner General Chisela Chileshe says the integration of inmates in sporting activities will help in the rehabilitation process.
Dr. Chileshe says despite serving various jail terms, talented inmates will be given an opportunity to take part on various sports activities as a better way of serving the nation.
The Commissioner General was speaking during the 2019/2020 sports gala held in Kabwe.
Dr. Chileshe also called on sports personnel in the country to champion the fight against COVID-19 by adhering to laid protocols as they engage in various activities.
He further urged sports men and women to keenly take part in physical exercises as demonstrated by President Edgar Lungu if they are to remain relevant to the service.
And National Sports Council of Zambia- NSCZ- chairperson Patrick Mutimushi reaffirmed his support towards the growth of sports in the service in line with the national sports policy.
Mutimushi who was represented by -NSCZ- Acting General Secretary Raphael Mulenga told Athletes to bring more medals to the service as a way of showing gratitude for all the investments made adding that sports disciplines like Judo, boxing among others will be introduced in the correctional service this year.
And Zambia Correction Service Director of sports Godfrey Mbewe said over 150 men and women have been employed under sports by the service .
Mbewe has since called on corporate entities to come on board and support sports development.
Meanwhile deserving athletes were last evening awarded for the performance in different sports disciplines categories like football, netball, Athletics and Tennis Among others.
