Information Technology has potential to create jobs and wealth-ICAZ

The Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia-ICAZ- has urged government to prioritize investment in technology in order to create jobs and wealth for the youth.

ICTAZ President CLEMENT SINYANGWE says although ZAMBIA has made strides in opening up digital spaces through provision of fast Internet such as Starlink, the country needs to modernize ICT infrastructure.

Mr. SINYANGWE says Zambia and other developing countries risk lagging behind in digital technology if they do not invest in skills training and infrastructure.

Mr. SINYANGWE said this at the end of year meeting of Sparc technologies Zambia in Lusaka.

And Sparc Technologies President and founder WISELY PHIRI unveiled plans to set up a modern regional ICT Training Center in Lusaka which will cater for the SADC sub region.

Mr. PHIRI said his firm has decided to set up a training center due to the favourable support it has received from government.

Earlier Sparc technologies Zambia Country Manager MISHECH MWEEMBA said the firm which has a footprint in several African countries has been rated as one of the fastest growing firms on the continent.
