Mining expert, SIXTUS MULENGA says the decision by government to reorganize the informal mining sector will greatly contribute to job creation and revenue collection.

Dr. MULENGA says informal miners who are sometimes called illegal miners can contribute to the growth of the country’s economy if their operations are formalized.

He has told ZNBC news that it is good that government is also looking after the welfare of small scale miners who require training and capital.

Dr. MULENGA said governments across the world have taken a deliberate policy to empower and equip small scale miners.

He was reacting to Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE’s statement that government is in the process of re-organizing small scale miners with the view of empowering them.
