Impressive Circuit City Beats Forest Rangers

Impressive Circuit City beat visiting Forest Rangers 2-1 in a match played at Edwin Imboela stadium. The newly promoted side continues taking the Super League by storm with their spirited performance.

After beating Lumwana Radiant and drawing against Napsa Stars in their last two games, City continue with their good run of form.

Chief architect Biston Banda was at it today inspiring his side to a well deserved victory. Banda gave the ‘Fole’ defense all sorts of problems with his tricks and explosive runs.

He opened the scoring in the dying minutes of first half when he chipped the ball from 25 yards leaving Rangers goalkeeper Mathias Kingonya with no option but to watch the ball go in.

In the second minute of added time, Banda was it again. This time he made a very good run on the right flank into the box. His shot was unfortunately stopped by defender Mbelenge Ngulakwey’s trailing hand and the referee did not hesitate to point to the spot for a penalty.

Former Napsa Stars striker Mangani Phiri stepped up and he converted the resultant penalty to give City a 2-nil lead before the half-time break.

City went into the break with a comfortable deserved lead after dominating all departments, that made it hard for Rangers to play.

Zikiru Adams pulled one for Rangers in the 60th minute but it was not enough to earn them a point. Fole Malembe tried to ask questions at the City’s goal but Circuit answered them equally, with the City defense remained a hard nut to crack.

Circuit City finished the game with 10 men after Gift Lukwesa was shown a second yellow card for wasting time.

The results saw the Lusaka side move into 5th position on 7 points; level with 3rd and 4th placed Buildcon and Napsa Stars respectively.

Forest Rangers dropped to 8th position and remained on 4 points just above the relegation zone.
