I’M Not Bound By My Father’s Legacy, says Mulenga Sata
Mulenga Sata distanced himself from his father’s legacy soon after filing his nomination for the Kabwata seat under the UPND ticket.
Mulenga, who is the first born son of late President Michael Sata founder of the ruling Patriotic Front, said he could not be bound by his father’s legacy.
The former Lusaka mayor has come under fire for having abandoned his father’s Patriotic Front for the UPND, a party that criticized his father to his death as having been a despot.
Mulenga said he did not feel any obligation to remain loyal to his father’s legacy.
“When my father founded the PF he did not form it for me or himself. It was for everyone who felt associated with his beliefs and so I am not him nor am I obliged to follow his path,” he said.
“I cannot be bonded to the PF because I have my own independent life not that of my father.”
Mulenga will have to try wrestle the Kabwata seat from Given Lubinda whose grip is still strong on the constituency with a show of solidarity during his nomination giving an indication of how much work his opponents have to do to unsettle him.
