Former United Party for National Development- UPND Vice President for Politics, Dr Canisius Banda has distanced himself from the headline carried in today’s, [Tuesday, October 4th,2016] edition of the Daily Nation Newspaper.

In response to the alarming headlind , Dr Banda who was until few days ago the UPND Vice President , refuted the story.

He assured that he spoke to the reporter who is equally surprised at the turn of the headline when what he said was totally different.

“…I did NOT say that.
Let it be on record today that I, Dr Canisius BANDA, submits to the whole world and Court of Public Opinion, that today’s headline of the Dailly Nation […’PF Won, Says Canisius’] and its first paragraph are only a warped reflection of an active and creative mind of the Daily Nation’s.
…they merely represent a figment of their bent and overzealous imagination,” he posted on his Facebook page.

Dr Banda accused the Daily Nation Managing Editor, Richard Sakala of creating the headline, but he was quick to admit and the content of the story to be his.

“Truth be told.
I did NOT say that.
I have spoken with the reporter responsible for the story and he is equally shocked that the headline is at variance with our conversation.
‘I did NOT write that,’ he protests.
I have spoken with Mr Richard SAKALA, the owner of the Daily Nation and he has pledged to me that he will retract the headline and correct the false impression that he and his paper have now created,”

“Truth always.
This must be our maxim, Pilgrims.
Even as we seek personal or organisational ends, we must never sacrifice or crucify TRUTH.
Lies have no legs. They can’t stand.
And the truth is that I did NOT say what Richard SAKALA says I said.
Nonetheless, the rest of the story, though fraught with grammatical errors, reflects an accurate view of my mind’s,” he said.
