HRC Rejects Deputy Ministers

The Human Rights Commission -HRC- has submitted that it does not support the proposed re-introduction of Deputy Ministers in the Constitution.Commission Director, Florence Chiwesha says the move to re- introduce deputy minister will deplete available resources.Ms Chiwesha was speaking when the commission appeared before the Raphael Nakachina led Parliamentary Select Committee.And Human Rights Commissions Chief investigations Officer Kims Banda submitted that the Commission does not support the formation of a coalition government but maintaining the existing 50 plus 1 clause.Meanwhile, Deputy Chief whip Tutwa Ngulube asked the witnesses if they had made any research pertaining to their arguments.Mr Ngulube advised the commission to detach politics from the constitution amendment process if it to produce the intended results.
