HR PRACTITIONERS TOLD TO FIGHT CORRUPTION

By Justin Akakulubelwa-
Labour and Social Security Minister, BRENDA TAMBATAMBA, has advised the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management -ZIHRM- to promote awareness among human resource practitioners and help to fight corruption at the workplace.

Mrs. TAMBATAMBA has also urged the institute to ensure only qualified people are recruited as human resource practitioners, in both the public and private sectors.

She says the institute is now empowered by law under the ZIHRM Act number 3 of 2022, to, among others; prosecute people practicing human resource management without qualifications, and not registered with the institute.

The Minister said this when she officially opened the 10th ZIHRM Regional Summit, in Livingstone.

And Speaking at the same event, Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management President, MOFFAT NYIRENDA, praised the new dawn government for repealing and replacing the ZIHRM Act number 11 of 1997 with the new ZIHRM Act number 3 of 2022.

Mr. NYIRENDA said the new Act will improve the practice of the human resource management in the country and contribute to economic development.

He said the institute intends to enforce the law to ensure all organisations employing human resource practitioners comply by recruiting persons who are members of the institute and have obtained practicing certificates.
