Hitachi supplies 50 plus earth–moving units

By KENNEDY MUPESENI –
HITACHI Construction Machinery Zambia Company Limited has supplied more than 50 units of earth-moving equipment under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) projects.
Hitachi currently assembles and manufactures different types of earth -moving equipment and parts at the Lusaka outlet on Kenneth Kaunda International Airport Road.
National sales manager Kennedy Chama said construction companies should look to Hitachi for the supply of construction machinery to cut down on   export charges.
“Contractors should look to us, we are capable of supplying any type of machinery for construction.
“Recently we supplied more than 50 construction equipment under the MCC for the implementation of Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC),” Mr Chama said.
Mr Chama said this in an interview in Kitwe recently.
He said, with the depreciation of the Kwacha, contractors could cut costs if they bought equipment within the country.
Mr Chama said being a well established equipment conglomerate with international connections, contractors dealing with Hitachi would be offered a variety of products.
He urged contractors in the country to prioritise equipment rather than luxury automobiles for them to efficiently execute works.
“We have earth moving equipment which costs as low as K120, 000 which can cost twice or more for the luxury vehicles contractors buy,” Mr Chama said.
